This table lists the surviving Exeter local port customs accounts, which are dated by fiscal year (29 September to 29 September in the following year). The accounts are deposited in the Devon Heritage Centre in Exeter, class ECA/8/2/1/. Translations available on MEMP are linked to individual years, with the intention to provide translations of all the accounts in due course.
Codes used:
- M = some ship entries on the Mayor’s court roll
- p = partial account
- R = on customs roll (1-10)
- S = account in its own separate roll
- *= separate accounts for wine & other merchandise in this year
- ? = further research needed to determine what survives for this year
Notes on partial and ? accounts:
- 1303/04: missing Sept. 1303-Mar 1304
- 1323/24: missing Sept.-10 Dec. 1323
- 1399/1400: could be the 1400/01 account
- 1453/54: only 8 Oct – 22 Feb
