The Merchant Fleet of Late Medieval and Tudor England 1400-1580. A searchable database of thousands of merchant ships from England, Wales, and the Channel Islands, which often provides the name, master, home port, and dates of specific voyages made by ships. On occasion, the origin and destination of the ship’s voyage is also known. The chief medieval sourcces are the national port customs accounts (TNA E122) and lists of ships requisitioned for temporary naval duty to transport troops and supplies (TNA E101). In the early modern period, the site also draws on ship surveys compiled for the central government.
